Eligibility Criteria – Students meeting NEET MDS
eligibility criteria will be given admissions for the course.
The regulatory body, National Board of Examinations (NBE) has set the NEET MDS eligibility conditions.
NEET MDS ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 2023-24
The following eligibility conditions of NEET MDS 2023-24 must be fulfilled by aspirants in order to appear for postgraduate national level entrance examination.
- Nationality – A candidate willing to apply for NEET MDS 2023 must be a citizen of India.Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or a Person of Indian Origin (PIO) can also apply for the entrance examination.
- Qualification – As per the NEET MDS 2023 eligibility criteria, it is mandatory for aspirants to pass the degree of Bachelors of Dental Surgery (BDS) awarded by a university or institute in India under MDS course regulations 2017 notified by Dental Council of India with prior approval of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).
- Registration Certificate Candidates must possess the permanent or provisional registration certificate issued by DCI or State Dental Council (SDC) by March 31, 2023.
- Internship – Applicants should have completed or likely to complete the 12 months rotatory internship on or before March 31, 2023. In accordance to NEET MDS eligibility criteria 2023, candidate undergoing the internship and is expected to complete the same by March 31, 2023, are eligible to appear for examination but will not be eligible for admission to MDS courses until they complete the internship and obtain the provisional or permanent registration certificate.
Eligibility Criteria for J&K aspirants
As per the NEET MDS eligibility criteria 2023-24, candidates belonging from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are eligible for 50% All India Quota seats. From the year 2018, these states have started participating in 50% AIQ scheme.
Aspirants who have studied or completed their BDS degree from the state of Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible to participate for 50% All India Quota seats. However, candidates who were nominated by the Government of India (GoI) under the central pool seats for pursuing BDS degree from any Dental College located in the state will be eligible for admission to 50% AIQ scheme.
Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Nationals
- As per the NEET MDS eligibility criteria 2023, it is not mandatory for foreign nationals to have the temporary registration of DCI at the time of examination
- The foreign nationals can take the exam without DCI registration certificate
- The temporary registration certificate by DCI will be issued on a condition that the foreign national must be registered as a medical practitioner in his/her country
Eligibility Criteria 2023-24 – Who are not eligible?
- Any candidate found in violation with NEET MDS 2023-24 eligibility conditions set by NBE were not allowed take up the examination. However, if any ineligible
candidate successfully appears for the entrance examination, later his/her
candidature will be cancelled. - As mentioned in the eligibility criteria of NEET MDS 2023, only candidates who have completed or likely to complete their 12 months rotatory internship on or before March 31, 2023. Any candidate who is not likely to complete the
internship within the stipulated time will not be considered eligible for NEET
MDS 2023.
Cut off – The qualifying percentile (revised) for general candidates is 25.835 and the marks corresponding to it is 172 (down from 250 earlier), and percentile for SC, ST, and OBC candidates is 15.835 and the marks equivalent to it is 140. The new cutoff for PwD candidates is also now 156, revised from 232.
